Un-anxious

Well hello praying friends!  God is most certainly answering your prayers!  The small amounts of stress, fear and/or anxiety have dwindled down by His grace to just drops.  Nothing has changed on our part (well except the blog), but God is working mightily.

Just two days ago when Abby came face to face with the phlebotomist waving a butterfly needle,


 there were protests.  

Protests of not having blood drawn and, oh yeah, not having the surgery to boot.  I resorted to bribing with a bag of chips (Salt & Vinegar are her favorite) to no avail.  She is a mature girl and relented of her own accord and a yummy sour bag of chips was soon hers.

I started the blog that very afternoon as a means to give updates but it ended up being cathartic for me and a good distraction. I have been so encouraged by your offers of prayer.  Even if you don't know (yet) the details of the surgery, you are praying.  How can I tell? Well, the Peace that transcends all understanding is here at work in us right now!  The title of this post is the very word she gave to all who kindly asked how she was feeling about tomorrow.  God is good.

Yesterday I made contact with the surgeon's office and we might squeeze a doctor's appointment in to meet him today.  I am hoping we can touch base by phone instead.  Most of the kids will be taken care of by loving friends, but I have one or two holes to fill.  Also, I am coming down with a sinus cold, so please pray for Abby to be protected and to heal from the minor cold she had on Tuesday and that it wouldn't morph into anything worse.  They will postpone the surgery if she is ill with a cough or fever.

The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

  1. Well, Lita I am glad you posted this on Facebook, because I didn't know what was going on with Abby. I saw on an earlier post that she was having surgery, but the link to this blog and the it only takes 2.6 minutes "nudged" me to come here.. I am glad that I did, so that I can know how to pray for you all..
